Southern Wake Academy welcomes gifts of all types to help us reach our fund development goals to implement academic and educational enrichment programs, that will benefit all our students and their teacher.
We offer many ways to support our school and different methods of giving. We invite you to review our different ways of giving, so that you can determine the right choice based on your personal financial circumstances.
Ways of Giving:
We gladly accept donations by check. Please drop off your check to Ms. Vicki Mangum or Ms. Claire Healey, at one of our front offices, or mail your check with SWA Annual Fund written on the memo line. A Donor Receipt acknowledging your contribution will be mailed to your home address.
Online Donations – credit and debit cards
Please use the Online Donation feature on our website when you use your credit or debit cards to donate to the SWA Annual Fund or the Scholarship Fund. The Online Donation method is SSL Certified to provide the highest level of security to protect your confidential information. Additionally, the Online Donation method offers several convenient features, including the option to arrange reoccurring charges to your credit card, and it will automatically send our donors an email to acknowledge their donation.
Gifts of Securities – stocks, bonds and mutual funds
This is an easy and painless way to contribute to SWA. Please contact Michael Stone at Edward Jones office in Holly Springs to make a gift of stock, bonds or mutual funds. If you contribute appreciated securities to SWA, you receive a two-fold income tax benefit: a charitable deduction for the present fair market value, and no capital gains tax on the appreciation. Please visit our web page, Marketable Securities, to find our EdwardsJones office information, and follow the instructions to sell your desired stocks and securities.
Gifts of Real Estate
Please contact the Office of Development to discuss any options related to selling real estate. Based on the type of property you own, it might qualify for tax incentives related to the appreciation in value. If you are interested in donating your property, including a home, boat or vehicle, then please contact the Office of Development to discuss the details of this property. Our doors are open to these types of gifts, and encourage our stakeholders and members of our community to reach out to us for further consideration.
Matching Gifts Program
Many organizations have corporate Matching Gifts programs that may double or triple the match donations made by employees. This is a great opportunity to maximize your gift without taking the cash out of your bank account! Simply contact your Human Resource department to find out if you are eligible for a matching gifts benefit, or contact Mike Heavey, Director of Development, to determine if your employer offers this benefit. In less than 30 seconds after inputting your employers name in our software search engine, we will have all the details of your employer’s matching gifts benefits. Additionally, our commitment is to fill-out the necessary forms required by your employer, to ensure the proper handling of your donation to SWA. We are glad to be of assistance!
We are pleased to accept in-kind gifts from our donors instead of receiving a financial donation. In-kind gifts are contributions of goods or services, other than cash grants. Examples of in-kind gifts are computers, printers, audio visual equipment, furniture, office products, tools, sporting equipment, and books. Also, services are considered in-kind gifts, including, copying, printing landscaping, cleaning services, and repairs. Before an in-kind donation is made to SWA, please contact the Office of Development to determine if the school needs and is willing to accept your donation.
There are many Ways of Giving to SWA, and we encourage you to contact us regarding your specific gift that will help SWA achieve our goals. Please see the Planned Giving web page that is included in the GIVING section of our school’s website, to see a list of options that are considered long-term gift commitments.
Remember, Southern Wake Academy is designated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization by the IRS. Your donations are tax deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law.
Please contact Mike Heavey, Director of Development, to discuss different Ways of Giving, and learn more about our fund development program.
