Ultimate Frisbee® is a fast-paced team sport played with a flying disc during the spring season. It is also known as Ultimate. The sport is played seven on seven, and the object of the game is to score points by passing the disc to a player in the opposing end zone. Players do not run with the disc; however, they may pivot while holding and throwing the disc.
Southern Wake Academy fields both junior varsity and varsity co-ed teams in Ultimate as part of the Carolina Athletic Association for Schools of Choice (CAASC), and interested students are encouraged to come out for the teams. The game is vigorous and requires players to be in good physical condition. Practice includes cardio training as well as flying-disc relay drills.
